Eligibility for the P-1B Visa

  • It applies to foreigners who temporarily come to the U.S. as members of an internationally recognized entertainment group.
  • At least 75% of group members must have a substantial and continuous relationship with the group for at least one year.

  • The group must be internationally recognized and excel in its discipline, demonstrating skill and recognition substantially superior to the common.
  • It focuses on the group’s reputation, not the individual achievements of its members or the acclamation of specific productions.

  • Exceptions for circus performers and essential circus personnel.
  • Some nationally known entertainment groups may obtain exemption from the requirement of international recognition in consideration of special circumstances.
